The new job posted by Apple has caused speculation that the company has started working on a payment service with cryptocurrencies. Apple announced in its job posting that it is seeking a business development executive with “more than 5 years of experience in or with alternative payment providers such as digital wallets, BNPL, Instant Payments, cryptocurrency.”

The person who will be taken into the business development position will be responsible for payments, wallets, and leading the commerce team. Said person will also lead partnerships in alternative payment providers. The ad includes the following words: “This position will be responsible for business development, including researching partners, negotiating and closing commercial deals, and launching new programs.”

The emphasis on cryptocurrencies and digital wallets in Apple’s job posting is extremely striking. It is thought that the newly hired manager can help coordinate Apple technologies and cryptocurrencies. As it will be remembered, Apple started to mediate crypto payments with Apple Pay. In the past months, a cryptocurrency exchange announced that they support Apple Pay. 

Apple Wallet is an app on iPhone and Apple Watch that securely and conveniently organizes your credit and debit cards, transit passes, boarding passes, tickets, student ID, car keys, rewards cards. Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple Inc. that allows users to make payments in person, in iOS apps, and on the web using Safari.

It seems that Apple will increase its interaction with crypto service providers and offer new services for the crypto world in the near future.
