The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced launching its non-fungible token initiative, NBAxNFT. According to the professional basketball league, the goal is to showcase “all things intersecting basketball and Web3 such as NFTs, gaming, and the metaverse.”
NBAxNFT is a collection that currently features a Twitter account and a Discord channel, following NBA Top Shot and Golden State Warriors 2022 Playoff responsive NFT. NBAxNFT is described as the “official Web3 home for the NBA.” The project aims to combine basketball with NFTs, gaming, metaverse, and Web3 ideas.
According to the initiative’s official Twitter account, “Thanks to everyone who followed. We are excited to share everything NBA basketball and web3 with you if you are new here. We’re looking forward to engaging with our community and partners like NBA Top Shot.”
At all-time sales of NFT collections, Dapper Labs’ NBA Top Shot NFT collection holds the ninth spot in the charts. NBA Top Shot has been able to sell 16,006,548 units, which equals $885. Discord has more than 35,000 members at the time of writing, and the NBA says 2022 Playoff NFTs will be released.
